I adopted Deacon 3 years ago from a rescue group in PA. Unfortunately I had
to move and could not take him with me. I notified the rescue and told them I know of someone who would adopt him. I knew
Wendy for over a year and felt she would take care of him. Well, I was so wrong about her and feel horrible that he is missing.
Deacon was adopted under contract from Bran Manor Equine Rescue in June 2004, to Wendy (With strict provisions
prohibiting him from being given away, traded, sold, etc..)
Wendy traded Deacon for another horse to a horse dealer
named Toby in August; allegedly he then sold Deacon to a woman in the Erie, PA area sometime in September. Not even
sure if Toby was telling me the truth on Deacons wearabouts.
Deacon could be anywhere. I have reached a dead-end and
now desperately need your help in tracking him.
Deacon is an 18 year old gelding Tb/Holsteiner cross, a big boy, standing
16’2” hands, dark bay, with a white star & white spot on his right rear coronet band. He has a distinguishable
habit of sucking the tip of his tongue when given treats.
Please contact maria6212@aol.com or call 484-429-1301 if
you have seen him or have any information as to his current whereabouts. Thank you so much! Please spread the word about this
missing horse.
DEACONS UPDATE as of 11/05
Its been 1 year that DEACON has been missing. The last i have heard was Toby
(horse dealers) have told several people they sent Deacon to Canada for slaughter due to him beating up his other horses.
I was notified by a couple of people who spoke to Toby that Deacon unfortunately went to kill. Was told Deacon
fought with another horse, and did a lot of damage... he was very nasty and wasn't very nice. Toby also mentioned to
them that Deacon did MAJOR damage to an expensive horse of his. He said that horse is lucky he didn't kill him...himself.
Toby told me he went to a woman in Erie, Pa because he felt bad about what he did and I was very upset when he talked to me.
Don't know if I will ever find out the truth about what happened or if Toby was telling the truth. I need closure
on him in order to put this to rest. I have never given up searching for him and will never give up untill I have the proof
I need. It haunts me to know what he must have went through...if he did go to slaughter.
I also want to thank Debbie of www.netposse.com and all that have helped in the search for all our missing horses. I hope and
pray oneday we all can find closure to our missing horses.
